Labor Day was the Grand Opening of Perfecto @ The Palms and all I can say is "Wow! What A night!" I arrived @ the Palms around 10pm. It was Labor Day weekend so naturally the casino was packed. As I approached the entrance to Rain I saw a massive line waiting to get in. I met up with my party around 10:15pm and by that time 3 massive lines had formed. It took about 45minutes to get in, which isn't bad for Vegas for that kind of weekend! As I walked through the entrance of Rain, the atmosphere was festive. There was a media wall where people were taking pictures and there were robots that reminded me of characters out of Star Wars. Right before I reached the tunnel I was greeted by space girls who were handing out flowers. As I walked through the tunnel I could hear the music blasting from the speakers, and as I turned the corner to finally arrive in the main room, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The stage was incredible… it included 3 huge projectors, one behind the DJ and one on each side of the DJ. The DJ booth was a custom LED booth that kept flashing the perfecto logo across it. Above the DJ, about 20 feet up in the air, were 12 plasma TV’s. My first reaction was “Wow! I can't believe this is happening in Vegas.” The club was packed; you could barley move. The opening DJ, Kenneth Thomas, was setting the stage for the night and the crowd of 4,600 people were all into the music. Around 11:30, there was a countdown that blasted us off into outer space; the visuals and the music were all in sync. The visuals were being handled by Vello Virkhaus which is a man known throughout the industry as one of the best in the world. Kenneth kept the crowd going dropping crowd favorites like "Tracking Treasure Down" and "Show Me Love." The anticipation for the headliner of the night had come to a peak when 1am had arrived.. the visuals , the music , the characters, and the anticipation, all lead us to this moment. We had arrived on Planet Perfecto. The lights went dark and the music got mystical then boom!, the truss from the middle of the room let out flames. The lights went up and standing in the DJ booth was the man himself, Paul Oakenfold. The crowd grew into a frenzy. At this point, I thought to myself, “what more can happen?” but then predator-like characters standing 8 ft tall were walking around the party, and more characters emerged; the visuals became more intense, data flashers were added, and girls in costumes were gliding through the air. All this was going on at the same time and it just kept coming and coming. Paul Oakenfold then droped a remix of U2's – “With or Without You” which caused the energy in the room to grow even more! In and out, peaks and valleys , Oakenfold was taking this crowd on a musical journey. It was Paul Oakenfold, circa ’99. I looked around, and everywhere I looked there were people dancing and the skybox was packed with people watching the stage. I had a prior arrangement so I couldn't stay to the end, but as I walked back down the tunnel to the exit, I turned to my friend with a smile and said, “Wow. We get to do this every week!” Perfecto Las Vegas has arrived!!!!
